Walk to Talmberk Castle
8th March 2008 |
It all started a week ago when we visited the ruins of the Okor castle, not far from Prague, following an idea of Cameron. It was such a sucess that it was decided to go for an "encore". During the week the destination of that next "Saturday" out of Prague was choosed and details were settled. We would be heading to the city of Sazava, 40 km SE of Prague. From there we would walk to the ruins of Talmberk castle and, eventually to some misterious remainings located in the same area.
The meeting point was Depo Hostivar. Terminus of the metro green line and departing spot of our bus. 382 was the number. We were supposed to meet by 10. By that time only a couple of persons were there. By 10:30 we had a crew of 8 people. A perfect number for this kind of enterprise. We entered the bus, we paid 32 Kzc and the adventure started. An hour and a quarter later (or 42 stops later, if you prefer) we finally arrived to Sazava. From there we walked to the top of a hill, basically IN the town. Gorgeous views over the river and the railway and its tunnels. Nice start for the journey. Then we visited the monastery of Sazava and finally we found the red track for pedestrians, leading to Talmberk.
It was a long and funny walk, with a few stops: for eating, enjoying the views and... playing frisbee. In the end, it took us three hours to get there. Ok... I'll have to admit that spotting the castle was the lowest moment of the day, at least to me. It's a poor ruin, basically a set of low walls with a couple of modern houses built inside. We couldn't visit because there is nothing there to be visited. Except the home of the only guy selling drinks in the village. And so the whole gang went there, asked for beers and enjoyed a long moment of relax. Finally the time to leave Talmberk came. It was an easy walk back to Sazava. One hour later we were arriving the town and definitely looking for a place to have some food and, naturally, a few more beers. We went to U Labutu (since 1761) - see picture - and that was a happy choice! The place is awesome! Some of us had a "hermelin" and beer came for the group. We were short on time. Just half a hour before the bus...and it was the last bus departing to Prague, so we just couldn't miss it! And we didn't. The trip back home was quiet. Everybody was tired and most of the people fall asleep. Well... it was another great Saturday out of Prague. More will come.
